The 2018 Division II District Tournament is set to take place this Friday and Saturday at Wilmington High School, and its results will determine which wrestlers from the area will qualify for next week’s OHSAA Division II State Tournament.

The Hillsboro Indians and McClain Tigers will each send five wrestlers to the district tournament this weekend as wrestlers coached by Greg Rhoads (Hillsboro) and Shane Paul (McClain) had good success last week in the sectional tournament in Washington C.H.

For the Indians, their five wrestlers include a state qualifier from a year ago, Lane Cluff, in the 285 pound weight class. Also for HHS are freshman Scott Eastes at 106 pounds, senior Cordell Covault at 145 pounds, junior Richard Adkins at 152 pounds and senior Deegan Boris at 195 pounds.

The McClain Tigers enter five strong wrestlers as well with freshman Lucas Jansen at 106 pounds, sophomore Quinton Smith at 132 pounds, senior Keegan Rawlins at 152 pounds, sophomore Phil Waters at 160 pounds and freshman Kade Rawlins at 220 pounds.

Last year in the team standings at the Div. II District Tournament, Graham Local was the team champion with a score of 321.5. Also looking back at districts from one year ago, as a sophomore, Cluff was the district runner-up at 285 pounds as he stamped his ticket in 2017 for state.
