Hillsboro Garden Club hosts July meeting

The Hillsboro Garden Club held their July meeting at Floral Hall.

After enjoying a potluck dinner, Nancy Baldwin gave an orientation of the upcoming county fair. Copies of the 2023 fair book were distributed. Class 116 of the Friday Flower Show will have an “Alice in Wonderland” theme.

President Judith Stivender called the meeting to order. The roll call question was "what is your favorite season?" Fifteen members and two guests answered promptly. Apparently, this question has been given prior consideration.

The minutes of the June meeting were approved as read aloud by Secretary Jennifer West.

A get-well card was passed around for signatures to be sent to our dear Shelly. We wish her a speedy recovery.

Ruth Anna gave the treasurer's report, which was filed for audit.

Stivender reported on the OAGC convention she attended earlier in the month. Two changes in wording in the bylaws were approved. "Member-at-large" has been changed to "individual member."

The Region 16 fall meeting will be Oct. 11 in Madison County. The theme will be "Nature's Splendor."

After discussion on whether or not to continue the distribution of the garden club's program book in paper form, a vote was held. For the time being, the program will continue in paper form. The meeting was then adjourned.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, Aug. 22. The activity will be to clean and prepare Floral Hall for the upcoming county fair. All gardeners are welcome to join us.
