During the week of the Highland County Fair, the Hillsboro FFA chapter was represented in the dairy barn and throughout the dairy show, as well as the brand-new dairy feeder show.
Kenny Shawhan brought his dairy cattle to the Highland County Fair, as he has done for several years in the past. He took his dairy females through the ring on Wednesday and Thursday of the fair, where he was rewarded for his hard work throughout the week.
On show day, Shawhan exhibited three different dairy projects and also competed in showmanship. He earned second place with his junior dairy heifer, fourth place junior dairy yearling heifer, third in class with his dairy beef feeder, and lastly Shawhan was second place in his showmanship division. He had a very successful and busy week working with his projects during the Highland County Fair.
The Hillsboro FFA chapter also had two other members make appearances in the dairy female show on Wednesday of the week of the fair. Hillsboro FFA members Cameron Burkard and Emma Yochum could be found within the ring of the dairy show. Both of these members challenged themselves to show two jersey heifers for a friend, who had several entered into the show.
All in all, the Hillsboro FFA was highly represented through the dairy barn during the Highland County Fair this year and looks forward to seeing this department grow.
