Highway Patrol investigating fatal crash in Brown County

Union Township – On Saturday, Nov. 22, at approximately 8:06 a.m., the Wilmington Dispatch Center of the Ohio State Highway Patrol received a report of a single-vehicle rollover crash in a creek on U.S. 62 near milepost 13 in Brown County.

Upon arrival to the scene, emergency crews discovered David Leonard, 45, from Aberdeen, deceased at the scene.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Mr. Leonard was operating his 1999 Ford Crown Victoria southbound on U.S. 62/U.S. 68, when he drifted off of the roadway into the grass median. He then struck a guardrail and went over an embankment, coming to rest on its roof in a creek about 30 feet below the roadway.

No other vehicles appear to have been involved, and no inclement weather was reported in the area at the time.

The crash remains under investigation by the Georgetown Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
