In an effort to increase the capacity within the county's non-profit organizations, the Highland County Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring an all-day workshop, "Back to Basics - Make Your Non-Profit Stronger," on Friday, Nov. 12.
The event will be held from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Hi-TEC building, 1575 N. High Street in Hillsboro. The seminar is free of charge, open to all non-profits, and supported by grant funds from the Governor's Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. Community Development Professionals of Hamilton will present the seminar.
This is the basic training for CDP's nonprofit partners. Organizations will learn the six components of organizational development and will be given the tools they need to address each component effectively. This training is highly interactive and requires active participation on the part of each attendee. Organizations are required to commit to action items at the end of the training and are offered a certificate upon successful completion of training and action items. Organizations are encouraged to send board members, and one or more key staff persons to this training. Each participating organization also receives a "Back to Basics Toolkit" (one per organization).
If you are involved with a nonprofit organization that could use more education and insight into grant writing skills and resources and other areas of fundraising, please pass this information along. For more information, visit the CDP website at www.communitydevelopmentprofessionals.com or call the Chamber office at 393-1111. Seating is limited, and reservations are required by Nov. 8.
