Wilmington woman sentenced in Highland County drug trafficking case
A Wilmington woman was sentenced this week to a year in prison after pleading guilty to a drug trafficking charge in Highland County.
Brittany N. Brunk, 32, was indicted by a Highland County grand jury in April and charged with one count each of trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound, possession of a fentanyl-related compound and tampering with evidence, all third-degree felonies.
Brunk pleaded guilty to the trafficking charge May 26, as a jury trial had been scheduled for June 8.
The indictment alleged that on or about March 1, Brunk “did knowingly prepare for shipment, ship, transport, deliver, prepare for distribution or distribute a fentanyl-related compound … in an amount equal to or exceeding five grams but less than 10 grams” while allegedly “knowing or having reason to believe the controlled substance was intended for sale or resale.”
Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Brunk to 12 months in prison. She had 88 days of jail time credit.
As previously reported, Brunk’s co-defendant, Glenn Arledge Jr., 42, of Wilmington pleaded guilty to the same charge May 6. He also received a 12-month prison sentence.
