Wilkin announces H2Ohio grant dollars for area communities

COLUMBUS—State Senator Shane Wilkin (R-Hillsboro) announces that $2,000,000 from the H2Ohio grant program has been awarded to the Jackson Water Company to make critical improvements to water service in Vinton County. The grant program will distribute $16.7 million to 14 water infrastructure projects across the state.

"This award will give access to safe drinking water to people in Vinton County who simply did not have it before, and enhance current service for other residents," Wilkin said. "This project means a great deal for everyone in the area. I'm proud to have supported these grant dollars in multiple state budgets to help Appalachia thrive."

The award going to Jackson Water Company will fund a new water storage tank on Garrett Ridge Road to provide safe drinking water to residents currently lacking water service. New water lines will also be installed for underserved areas, and old waterlines will be replaced to increase output for current users.

The H2Ohio program was launched in 2019 to improve water quality and infrastructure throughout Ohio.
