A Washington Court House woman was sentenced this week to three years in prison after pleading guilty to two drug-related charges in Highland County Common Pleas Court.

Samantha Snively, 30, was indicted by a Highland County grand jury in September and charged with trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound, a second-degree felony; possession of a fentanyl-related compound, a second-degree felony; and illegal conveyance of weapons or prohibited items onto the grounds of a detention facility or institution, a third-degree felony.

Snively pleaded guilty Nov. 20 to an amended count of attempted trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound, which lowered the charge to a third-degree felony, and the conveyance charge. The possession count was dismissed.

Both charges stemmed from incidents alleged to have occurred on or about July 28. The attempted trafficking charge allegedly involved a fentanyl-related compound in an amount that equals or exceeds 100 unit doses but is less than 200 unit doses or equals or exceeds 10 grams but is less than 20 grams. On the same date, Snively is accused of “knowingly conveying, or attempting to convey … a drug of abuse” into the Greenfield jail.

During a sentencing hearing Jan. 14, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss ordered Snively to serve 18 months in prison on each count, for a total of three years. She had one day of jail time credit.

It was also ordered that a smartphone in Snively’s possession at the time of her arrest be released to its owner.
