Village of Highland grateful for support

After a little over a year of being in service, the Village of Highland would like to thank the following businesses and individuals for their donations of equipment, materials, services, money, or time that went toward providing the village law enforcement with equipment. The Village of Highland had been without its own law enforcement for approximately nine years until 2009. That is when efforts went under way to re-establish local law enforcement services and the Marshal’s Office went into service. This office not only handles issues regarding law enforcement but also takes care of street maintenance. At this time, this office is comprised of only auxiliary officers who work on a volunteer basis.

The village thanks:

• Highland County Commissioners Gary Heaton, Tom Horst, and Shane Wilkin;

• Highland County Sheriff Ron Ward.

These individuals donated a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria (that was taken out of service due repair issues) along with parts and other law enforcement vehicle equipment.

• Nick & John Malone of Nick Malone Towing, 6992 Kesler Road, Hillsboro. Nick and John donated their time, services and materials by providing tow service, body repair work, and body repair materials equaling out to approximately 50 hours of their time.

• Jerry Shepherd, owner of J&J Automotive, 63 Belfast Pike, Hillsboro. Jerry donated his time and services towards the repair of all mechanicals issues that were needed to bring the patrol car back in service.

• Scott Sutherland, owner of Scott’s Automotive, 413 South Main Street, Bethel. Scott donated his time and service towards the inspection of the frame, front end alignment and balancing the tires for the patrol car.

• Larry Ahrmann, manager of KOI Parts Store, 122 E. Main St., Blanchester. Larry donated materials that were needed to re-paint the patrol car.

• Brandon Wooton, Lynchburg Chief of Police.

• Jeremy Schaffer, Lynchburg Mayor.

Both of the Village of Lynchburg and the Lynchburg Police Department continue to assist the Village of Highland with extra equipment that they no longer use.
