Veterans Tribute meeting May 29; Flag Day celebration June 13

Support Our Troops of Highland County will host an informational meeting open to the community regarding bringing the American Veterans Traveling Tribute to Highland County, possibly as soon as the fall of 2014.

SOTOHC welcomes any and all interested parties, whether individuals or representatives of businesses, churches, youth programs, local for-profit or nonprofit organizations or veterans organizations, to attend. If you are interested in taking part or making a donation toward this wonderful tribute, please plan to attend this meeting on Thursday, May 29 at 6 p.m. in
the Hi-TEC Center conference rooms, 1575 N. High St., Hillsboro.

This summer will mark the 20th anniversary since the Vietnam Veterans Traveling Wall was in Highland County in 1994 and will mark the 10th anniversary of SOTOHC. For information, go to avtt.org/2013/learnmore.html.

Flag Day celebration

The Highland County Veterans Service Commission will host a Flag Day Celebration commemorating the beginning of World War I and the 70th anniversary of D-Day on Friday, June 13 from 4-7 p.m. at the Hi-TEC conference rooms, 1575 N. High St., Hillsboro. Please bring your worn and tattered flags, as the Veterans Service Commission is collecting them for the AMVETS Post #61's Watch Fire the following evening.
