US News & World Report ranks Ohio State top hospital in Columbus, among best in the nation
COLUMBUS – The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is the best adult hospital in central Ohio, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2024-2025 “Best Hospitals” report.
Ohio State is nationally ranked in eight medical specialties and is No. 2 in Ohio, after Cleveland Clinic.
This is the 32nd year in a row that Ohio State has received national recognition for providing safe, high-quality health care.

Warner, MD, chief executive officer of Ohio State Wexner Medical Center and executive vice president at Ohio State. “These results demonstrate our commitment to offer breakthrough health care solutions that transform people’s lives and the communities in which we live.”
U.S. News & World Report evaluates more than 4,500 eligible hospitals, but only the top hospitals are nationally ranked by specialty. Ohio State’s ranked specialties are:
• Cancer
• Cardiology, heart and vascular surgery
• Ear, nose and throat
• Neurology and neurosurgery
• Obstetrics and gynecology
• Pulmonology and lung surgery
• Rehabilitation
• Urology.
Ohio State is also rated high performing in diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery, geriatrics and orthopedics – which places these specialties in the top 10 percent of all hospitals included in the report.

Bradford, MD, dean of The Ohio State University College of Medicine. “This bench-to-bedside approach to care is evident in our exceptional patient health outcomes.”
U.S. News & World Report also looks at how well hospitals treat common illnesses. It rated Ohio State high performing in 13 out of 20 procedures and conditions. Hospitals that earned a high-performing rating were significantly better than the national average. Those high performing procedures and conditions are:
• Abdominal aortic aneurysm repair
• Aortic valve surgery
• Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
• Colon cancer surgery
• Diabetes
• Gynecological cancer surgery
• Heart attack
• Heart failure
• Kidney failure
• Leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma
• Lung cancer surgery
• Pneumonia
• Prostate cancer surgery.
