Lead Summary

At approximately 1:57 p.m. Sunday, the Hillsboro Police Department and Paint Creek Joint EMS and Fire District were dispatched for a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident at the intersection of West Main and Elm Streets.

Upon arrival, it was found that apparently a vehicle westbound on Main Street was unable to stop for a traffic light at the intersection due to failure of the vehicles brakes.

A second car southbound on Elm Street struck the car, causing it to then travel off of Main Street, striking and damaging the sign post at the West Hillsboro Cross Fit facilities.

Occupants of both vehicles refused treatment at the scene. Paint Creek JEMSF, and HPD remained on scene until the vehicles were removed and the sign post could be secured.

The accident remains under investigation by Hillsboro Police Department.
