Two break-ins reported on West Pleasant Street

The Hillsboro Police Department has received two reports of a male subject attempting to or successfully entering a residence in the southwest quadrant of the city of Hillsboro over the past two days.
On Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 1:49 a.m., a resident in the 300 block of West Pleasant Street came home to find a subject inside his residence talking to himself. The subject was told to leave by the resident and then called police. The subject was not subsequently located. He was described as a white male wearing a white T-shirt and gray sweatpants. He left in an eastward direction from the residence. Nothing was found to have been taken in this incident.
Again on Nov. 9, at 11:45 p.m., a resident in the 400 block of West Pleasant Street attempted to take his Saint Bernard dog out to his backyard. Upon doing so, he found a subject trying to get into a basement door to his residence. The subject was only described as being a male with dark clothing and white shoes. The subject jumped over a fence to flee in an eastward direction, but not before being bitten by the resident's dog. Heavy patrols in the area were unable to locate the subject. The extent of injury is unknown. It was found that a telephone line and cable television line had been cut as result of this incident.
Although patrols have been stepped up in this area, the Hillsboro Police Department would like for everyone to be security-conscious. They are urged to make sure that their doors and windows are locked and report any suspicious activity to the Hillsboro Police Department.
