Workers from A-1 Tree Service are removing two ash trees from the lawn of the Highland County Courthouse Friday, June 26.
The Highland County Board of Commissioners had announced during their April 22 meeting that they were getting estimates for the removal of two ash trees on the courthouse square due to safety concerns.
“I hate to do it; I’ll be honest,” Commissioner Tom Horst said. “They’ve been there a long time. Eventually, we’ll put something else there.”
Commissioners said the trees were infected with the emerald ash borer and needed to be removed for safety reasons.
