Trapp to run for Supreme Court

Judge Mary Jane Trapp has announced her candidacy for Ohio Supreme Court. Trapp will be running for the seat currently held by Judge Judy Lanzinger. The announcement took place this week at the Ladies’ Gallery of the Statehouse.
Trapp earned her law degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1981 and spent twenty-five years arguing civil and criminal cases before courts at all levels. In 2006, she was elected to the Ohio Court of Appeals’ 11th Appellate District, where she currently serves as presiding/administrative judge. Trapp is a resident of Novelty.
Governor Ted Strickland called Trapp “a woman of deep intellect, a woman of impeccable credentials and a woman who understands the struggles of everyday Ohioans” and praised her “intimate understanding of the Ohio Supreme Court,” based on her work arguing cases before the court, serving as a visiting judge and member of the Rules Advisory Committee of the court, as well as the designee of the Ohio Courts of Appeals Judges Association on the Supreme Court of Ohio Commission on the Rules of Practice and Procedure.
Strickland added, “Justice is best achieved when the makeup of the judiciary is balanced. Since 2007, all of the seats of the Ohio Supreme Court have been controlled by one party.
“Like all parts of government, the court’s effectiveness will only improve as it more accurately reflects the people of our great state.”[[In-content Ad]]
