Speaker Rosenberger, Senator Peterson applaud local projects funded in state capital budget at press conference

Speaker of the Ohio House Clifford A. Rosenberger (R-Clarksville), Senator Bob Peterson (R-Sabina) and other community leaders held a press conference in Clinton County Friday at the Clinton-Warren Joint Fire and Rescue District to announce community projects expected to be funded under the state’s capital budget bill.
“The capital budget bill process has truly been a collaborative effort between the Ohio House and Senate, the Governor’s office and his administration, and local community leaders across Ohio,” Speaker Rosenberger said. “These projects will have a positive impact on Clinton County and the greater 91st House District, spurring economic development and positively influencing quality of life.”
Senate Bill 310, introduced in the state legislature this week, invests a total of nearly $2.6 billion in funding across Ohio for priorities like infrastructure, workforce development, and the arts. The capital budget’s investments are consistent with the legislature’s commitment of fiscal responsibility and a stronger, more competitive economic climate.
“The process of working with local leaders to get these projects in Clinton County funded was extremely rewarding,” Sen. Peterson said. “The community and southern Ohio will benefit from these worthy investments for many years.”
Among others, the projects include:

· MARCS Tower project, serving Clinton, Highland, and Fayette counties ($1,385,941)
“We appreciate the collaboration of Speaker Rosenberger and Senator Peterson in appreciating the local area and keeping first responders in mind during the capital budget process,” said Brian Prickett of the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department. “It makes our ability to respond to the public's needs stronger.”
· Clarksville Fire Training Center ($850,000)
"We're just thankful to be a part of this partnership and grateful for the work that the Speaker and Senator did to make it happen,” said Chief Bob Wysong of the Clinton-Warren Joint Fire and Rescue District. “It's a real plus for the community, the county, and the state as a whole.”
“Thanks to Speaker Rosenberger and Senator Peterson for their leadership and support for this fire training center,” said Dr. Dave Collins, Provost of Sinclair Community College. “Sinclair is extremely proud of our fire science program and our commitment to firefighting professionals. We are pleased to collaborate with our great partners at Southern State Community College on this important project for the region.”
· Renovations of Kettering Hall at Wilmington College, turning it into a Center for the Sciences and Agriculture ($1,500,000)
"Our gratitude goes out to the Speaker and Senator Peterson for their work on our behalf. We have a 70-year tradition of educating agriculture students, and what we have found over time is that more and more of them want to be the people that help create the next generation of agriculture students,” said Jim Reynolds, President of Wilmington College. “The appropriation will help us to grow the number of students who go on to become agriculture teachers in Ohio high schools."
· Aviation infrastructure improvements at Wilmington Air Park ($3,000,000)
“The $3 million capital budget allocation will be transformative for the efforts to accelerate significant improvements to the Wilmington Air Park. These funds will be utilized to make investments in essential aviation-related infrastructure at our facility,” said Dan Evers, Executive Director of the Clinton County Port Authority. “Improvements to runways, taxiways, jet ramp space, and instrument landing systems may all be realized as a result of this pivotal infusion of capital. As a result, the Wilmington Air Park will be well-positioned to attract and expand high-value jobs to the Clinton County Community. The Clinton County Port Authority thanks Speaker Rosenberger, Senator Peterson, the Dayton Development Coalition, Clinton County Commissioners, and all our partners who have made this investment possible.”
