Sidewalk Prophets open 2015 Festival of the Bells concert series

Many fans and representatives from Highland County churches braved the unseasonably cool, damp weather to enjoy the Festival of the Bells’ opening concert by the Dove award-winning band Sidewalk Prophets.
After a performance by Good News Gathering’s praise and worship band, Sidewalk Prophets entertained the Festival crowds with a mix of their hit singles, including their current smash hit single “Prodigal.” The hit is currently 24th on the Billboard Christian Airplay chart after only four weeks on the chart and rising.
[[In-content Ad]]Prior to Thursday night’s concert, the annual Festival of the Bells parade was held, sponsored by the Highland County Firefighters Association, All-American Fire Equipment and Pike Natural Gas. Damon Haught served as emcee for the parade. Crowds lined Main and High streets in uptown Hillsboro to watch local churches, organizations, schools and individuals representing the theme “Little Town, Big Heart.”
Festival of the Bells committee members also conducted opening ceremonies Thursday evening, with a national anthem performance by the Highland County Children’s Choir.
The Festival of the Bells will continue Friday and Saturday with a full lineup of activities planned, including a sidewalk chalk art contest sponsored by KFC, kiddie and adult tractor pulls and performances by After Midnight and John King on Friday.
On Saturday, a 5K run/walk will be held in the morning, followed by a corn hole tournament, pet parade, baby parade and other family-friendly events. RaeLynn will perform at 7 p.m., followed by headliner Chase Bryant at 9 p.m.
