Several Hillsboro residents, businesses lose power

Several areas of Hillsboro were without power after a Tuesday morning thunderstorm passed through. Traffic signal devices were affected at several intersections along North High Street.

In addition to the power outage, a number of customers also lost service from TimeWarner cable.

Tim Atkins, a representative from AEP, said that lightning stuck the pole shown in the picture causing the lines to fall onto another set, which caused a breaker to trip in the nearby transformer.  

At 11 a.m. Tuesday, they already had the transformer reset and hoped to have all the power back on by 1 p.m.
