U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio) today voted in support of the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act, saying the bill will prevent members of Congress and employees from profiting from information acquired behind closed doors.
“Members of Congress and their staff are not above the law, and the STOCK Act ensures that those who abuse their knowledge of inside information will be held accountable,” said Portman.
“The American people should be assured that their elected officials and their staff don’t profit from information acquired behind closed doors. I was proud to support the STOCK Act in committee and am pleased to vote to move it forward today.”
As a member of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Sen. Portman voted in favor of moving the bill out of committee and to the full Senate last December.[[In-content Ad]]
