Secretary of State’s office encourages Ohioans to vote

Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted announced Wednesday that his office will begin contacting more than 1.6 million Ohioans this Friday who are eligible to vote but not yet registered to encourage them to become active and engaged voters.
Those contacted will be encouraged to visit MyOhioVote.com/Register.html to get started by downloading a voter registration form or call (877) 868-3874 to have the form mailed to them.
"Voting in Ohio has never been easier and this is another proactive step to encourage Ohioans to get registered and vote,” Secretary Husted said.

Secretary Husted is the first of Ohio’s Chief Election Officers to directly contact eligible, but unregistered, voters to encourage them to participate. The outreach program was made possible by the state’s recent partnership with the Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC), which has helped the Secretary of State’s Office identify eligible voters.
The Secretary of State’s Office will send information on voter registration to a total of 1,652,491 eligible voters and encourage them to register in time to participate in the 2016 Presidential General Election on Nov. 8.
State law requires voters to be registered no less than 30 days before an election in order to cast a ballot. This year, voters must be registered to vote by Oct. 11.
