Secretary of State Husted responds to federal lawsuit

COLUMBUS – Regarding today’s lawsuit filed in federal court challenging Ohio’s election rules, Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted has submitted the following statements to The Highland County Press:

“Ohio just settled a federal lawsuit on early voting a couple of weeks ago so that we could have a smooth, fair elections process in 2016.

“But some politicians don't want peace, they just want to play politics, again. Ohioans don't want politically motivated, legal lap dogs messing around in our elections, this nonsense creates more confusion and discourages voting by undermining voter confidence."

“I suspect Mrs. Clinton’s attorney may have filed his suit in the wrong state as Ohio has ample early voting hours. Perhaps he intended to sue Hillary’s home state of New York where they have no early voting days or hours.”

“In Ohio it is easy to vote. In fact, our voting rules have received national recognition and our generous number of days and hours are supported by the NAACP, League of Women Voters and the ACLU. Mrs. Clinton’s political associates are simply intending to interject chaos into Ohio’s nationally recognized voting system.”
