Press Release-
Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted announced Monday the Ohio Business Profile program will feature restaurants throughout the month of October.

With over 570,000 restaurant and food service jobs in Ohio, restaurants account for nearly 11 percent of the state’s employment.

“Ohio has over 22,000 eating and drinking places and that number continues to grow,” Secretary Husted said, “With projected sales to be around $20.5 billion this year, restaurants are continuously impacting communities all around the state.”

Companies profiled this month include:
• Rusty Bucket Restaurant and Tavern (Columbus) is a company of 1,277 employees with 24 locations. Serving families, professionals and other guests, the Rusty Bucket’s goal is to be a place where people can meet up, grab a bite to eat and share life news.

• Great Lakes Brewing Co. (Cleveland) was the first brewpub to open in Ohio and is proud to brew award-winning craft beer since 1988. With a staff of passionate and knowledgeable people, Great Lakes Brewing Co. is able to create a diverse selection of craft beers that are also named after people, places and things in Cleveland.?
• Local Roots (Powell) opened in June of 2009 and has been continuously growing ever since. Being a farm to table style restaurant, Local Roots also offers a private banquet room and outdoor patios for seasonal live music.

• Crave (Akron) started in 1999 as a personal chef and catering service but after six years was able to become a freestanding restaurant. Serving creative cuisine and beverages in a modern, upbeat environment, Crave continues to grow and is excited about upcoming possibilities for expansion.?
In January 2016, Secretary Husted announced that 2015 was Ohio’s sixth consecutive year of record business growth and Ohio set an all-time, one-month record in March 2016. Ohio has seen a 21.8 percent increase in the number of newly-registered businesses and a 24.4 percent drop in rejections from 2010 to 2015. This growth can largely be attributed to Secretary Husted’s efforts to provide better customer service to Ohio businesses by reducing the costs associated with registering a new business, ensuring faster processing time and launching online services at the Ohio Business Central.

In addition, Secretary Husted began a partnership with Google’s “Let’s Put Our Cities on the Map” program in 2015. Ohio businesses now have easy access to free tools through Google when they apply to start a business online with the Secretary of State’s office and Ohio is now the least costly state in the region to start and maintain a new business.

Launched in June 2011, Ohio Business Profile has helped raise awareness about companies registered and doing business in Ohio that are creating interesting products, offering outstanding service, contributing to their local communities and employing Ohioans in the process. Each month, a handful of diverse businesses linked together by a common theme are featured on the Secretary of State’s website, where Ohioans are encouraged to submit companies they feel are deserving of recognition in future months.
