Press Release-
This past week, Dr. Brian Santin, a vascular surgeon at Ohio Vein & Vascular in Wilmington, spoke to surgical residents from across the country in Washington D.C.

Earlier this year, Dr. Santin, who is the chair of the Membership Committee for the Ohio Chapter of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), was invited to speak at the Surgery Resident Program during the Annual Clinical Congress of the ACS to talk about how to start a private practice in surgery in today’s day and age of health care delivery in the US.

Immediately following completion of this vascular surgery fellowship, Dr. Santin opened his own, solo private practice in 2013. This is not a typical path most surgeons pursue, as most are unaware that they may have the opportunity to do so if they have the correct knowledge and skill set. It is much more common for physicians to become employed by a hospital when finished with their medical training than to start a small business such as Santin.

After speaking for 30 minutes, Santin proceeded to answer questions as part of a panel of experts.

“I think it is critically important to provide insight into the various employment options that residents and fellows have when they complete their training,” Santin said.

The American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress took place in Washington D.C. from Oct. 16-20.

To contact Dr. Santin or schedule an appointment, feel free to stop by the office or call 937-655-8346.
