Roush, Brown present 'An Evening with Caspar Collins'

Highland County Historical Society Trustee Katie Burwinkel, in cooperation with the Society, hosted "An Evening with Caspar Collins" Sunday, July 26 at the Scott House in Hillsboro.

This year marks the 150th anniversary of Caspar Collins' death in battle on July 26, 1865 at 20 years of age.

Approximately 100 guests attended the event which featured Steve Roush as Caspar Wever Collins and Bob Brown as William Oliver Collins.

Caspar Collins was born in Hillsboro on Sept. 30, 1844.

The town Casper, Wyo. and Fort Caspar, Wyo. are named for him. Museums and libraries, such as the Colorado State University Library, hold memorabilia of him.

A three-day Caspar Collins Days event was held July 24-26 in Fort Caspar, Wyo.
