Ross County Sheriff’s Office searching for escaped inmate

Update: According to the RSCO, “The prisoner was taken into custody close to where he ran from. He was found thanks to a tip from a community member.”

At approximately 1:10 p.m. Monday, Jason A. Matson, 40, a Ross County Jail inmate assigned to an outside work detail, ran away from the corrections officer that was supervising him in the area of Cattail and Biers Run Road.

He is 6-1, 195 lbs. and has brown hair and eyes. He was last seen wearing blue denim pants and awhite tank top.

Matson was serving a sentence for petty theft out of Chillicothe Municipal Court.
