Ross-104 Project Progressing Toward Completion
Traffic Changes Being Imparted; New Signal In Operation
Chillicothe (Thursday, June 17, 2010) – With nearly $70 million being invested in more than 60 projects districtwide, the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9’s 2010 construction season is well under way.
“As part of the $25 million construction season taking place in Ross County this year, the Ross-104 Widening project is moving forward toward its completion, and motorists will witness its progress with several upcoming traffic changes, ” said ODOT District 9 Deputy Director James A. Brushart.
On Monday, June 21, traffic patterns on Ohio-104 will be switched, whereby two-way traffic will be shifted to new pavement in the northbound lanes, the south entrance to Pleasant Valley Road will be closed through the duration of the project, and Roberts Road will be closed permanently.
Pleasant Valley Road traffic, including traffic to Adena State Memorial via Adena Road, will follow the new alignment at its junction with Gateway Drive. At the completion of the project, the southern end of Pleasant Valley Road will be reopened with a right-in/right-out turning movement, accessible only to and from southbound Ohio-104.
In addition to these traffic changes, the signal at the intersection of Moundsville Road and the Chillicothe Correctional Facility has been activated, and it is now in stop-and-go operation.
The Ross-104 project includes widening the route from two to five lanes between U.S. 35 and S.R. 207, just north of Chillicothe, as well as installing traffic signals, rerouting Pleasant Valley Road, and upgrading entrances to both the Chillicothe and Ross correctional facilities.
Drivers are reminded of the need for additional caution within the entire construction zone, and through-traffic motorists are encouraged to follow the alternate Ohio-104 route via Bridge Street and S.R. 207 established for the project.
With an investment of $6.5 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and a total construction cost of $10.6 million, the Ross-104 Widening project is being constructed by Shelly and Sands of Zanesville, Ohio.
