Second District Rep. Brad Wenstrup will be joining Republican Reps. Ken Calvert of California and Mike Pompeo of Kansas as the House plans an investigation and special task force to look at allegations that U.S. Central Command officials pressured analysts to discard parts of their reports that reflected poorly on the war effort in Iraq and Syria.

The Associated Press reported Friday, Dec. 11 that a former Central Command official said “more than 50 intelligence analysts had complained that their conclusions were undercut.

“One or more senior analysts from the command made a written complaint to the Defense Department inspector general in July, prompting an investigation that officials have publicly acknowledged.”

Congressman Wenstrup was elected in 2012 to represent the people of Ohio’s Second Congressional District, including Highland County, in the U.S. House of Representatives.

He brings experience as a doctor, Army Reserve officer, Iraq War veteran, and small business owner. Wenstrup has served in the U.S. Army Reserve since 1998, currently holding the rank of lieutenant colonel. In 2005-06, he served a tour in Iraq as a combat surgeon, and was awarded a Bronze Star and Combat Action Badge for his service.

In the 114th Congress, he serves on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, the Armed Services Committee and the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, where he is the chairman of the Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity.
