COLUMBUS – State Senator Terry Johnson (R-McDermott) today announced Controlling Board approval of $127,000 for Mental Health and Addiction Services to acquire and renovate a home in order to create a mental health and substance abuse recovery residence in Adams County.

Compass Point Housing, Inc., will purchase the location in West Union, for the purpose of providing a level II recovery housing facility for up to five adult women in recovery from substance use disorders. Residents will have access to ample shared spaces, including a living room, laundry and an updated kitchen and dining area. Planned renovations will include interior updates as well as two bathroom remodels and a new HVAC system.

"The services provided by this facility will be of great benefit to those who are struggling with addiction in our community," said Johnson. "Long-term housing and recovery treatment facilities create an environment of stability that is critical to breaking the cycle of addiction."

Compass Point Housing is a partner agency with the Adams, Lawrence, Scioto, Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services Board.

Senator Johnson represents the 14th District in the Ohio Senate, which encompasses all of Adams, Brown, Clermont and Scioto counties as well as a portion of Lawrence County.
