Rep. Green votes to send community improvement legislation to governor

During last Wednesday’s session, State Representative Doug Green (R-Mt. Orab) voted in support of Senate Bill 310, legislation that helps fund various community improvement projects around the state. Having cleared both legislative chambers, the bill now awaits final consideration by Governor John Kasich.
Senate Bill 310, also known as the capital budget bill, invests a total of nearly $2.6 billion in funding across Ohio for priorities like infrastructure, workforce development and the arts. A considerable portion of the funding goes toward supporting repairs and renovations at primary and secondary education facilities through the Ohio School Facilities Commission.
“I am thrilled to see that we are currently in the final stages with funding these projects,” Green said. “The Ohio Legislature has worked extremely hard together to ensure that the projects in District 66 are funded through Senate Bill 310.”

The final version of the bill includes projects in portions of Brown and Clermont counties:
· Gaslight Theatre Building Renovation Project, $300,000;
· Child Focus Inc., $415,000;
· Washington Township Lake Stabilization Project, $11,000; and
· Historic Batavia Armory, $300,000.
In addition, part of the funding goes toward higher education needs, such as for facility maintenance and learning programs.
SB 310 passed the Senate on April 20 before receiving hearings in the House. It is expected to soon be signed into law by Governor Kasich.
