SAMANTHA – An aged building in the middle of the Samantha community that has housed many small businesses in decades past has come to life once again.

The Primitive Cupboard is now open along U.S. 62 between Leesburg and Hillsboro in the village of Samantha.

Owner Jobi Bennington combined her flair for artistic design, enthusiasm for creating a welcoming home, and a bit more time with both her young sons in school to transform the old building.

The store contains unique creations of primitive textiles, folk art, various sizes of different distressed furnishings, candles, bedding, placemats, and jute braided rugs along with other specialty items.

The candles with their primitive scents may be familiar to Highland contains as they were developed by her husband's aunt, Charlene Bennington, a Samantha resident who created the candles in her garage-workshop and mentored Jobi in her unique candle craft before she passed away in 2009.

Other participants in the store's facelift are Jobi's parents, Phil and Sharon Roush, and her brother, Brad Roush.

The store is open Tuesdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Travelers can find the building right along the west side of U.S. 62. Once inside, visitors may enjoy the creative settings of a porch and a bedroom along with Bennington's other distinct arrangements.

The store may be reached at 393-9949.[[In-content Ad]]
