Pike County/OSU Extension announces timber workshop

Selling timber isn’t something that woodland owners should take lightly.
The decisions that you make now will not only affect you financially, but will alter the course of your woodlot for a long time to come.
“Thinking about Selling Timber? Some Things to Consider” is a two-hour evening workshop designed to help you make decisions that will have a positive influence on you and your woodland.
Topics to be addressed include: deciding whether or not to harvest timber, planning a harvest to accomplish your objectives, determining the value of trees, marketing timber, finding the right logger, getting professional assistance, using Best Management Practices (BMP’s), developing a good contract, and understanding the basics of timber taxes.
This informative workshop is being held at the Ohio State University South Centers Endeavor Center 1864 Shyville Road, Piketon on Nov. 15.
The program runs from 7-9 p.m. and is free to the public thanks to support from the George W. Broughton Endowment, Ohio State University Extension, ODNR Division of Forestry, and Pike & Scioto SWCDs.
