Peterson, Balderson join Circleville community for groundbreaking on new Roundtown Trail

State Senators Bob Peterson (R-Washington Court House) and Troy Balderson (R-Zanesville) joined leaders from Pickaway County and the city of Circleville Tuesday to break ground on the new Roundtown Trail recreational pathway.
Senators Peterson and Balderson presented members of the Roundtown Trails Committee with a letter of commendation on behalf of the members of the Ohio Senate celebrating the project's groundbreaking.

"We are pleased to see this project becoming a reality," Peterson said. "New pathways connecting our educational institutions with local resources will make Circleville an attractive place for students to get an education and improves the quality of life for area residents."
Senators Peterson and Balderson, as well as State Representative Gary Scherer (R-Circleville), were instrumental in securing $30,000 for the project in the 2014 Ohio capital budget. State funds were used to help leverage local private contributions for the nearly $500,000 project.
"As an avid cyclist, I can attest to how increased opportunities for outdoor activities can improve the quality of life for those living in our communities," Balderson said. "This project not only helps create a unique corridor for students but also helps to promote active and healthy lifestyles."
Coined the "educational corridor," the new recreation trail will connect the Pickaway County Family YMCA, Ohio Christian University and Circleville City Schools and will help to attract pedestrian and bicycle traffic in the area.
