Peterson applauds Sofidel for local investment, job creation at Pickaway County Groundbreaking

State Senator Bob Peterson (R-Washington Court House) attended the groundbreaking of Sofidel America's new facility in Pickaway County Monday as part of the Italian manufacturing company's North American expansion effort.
The 1.4 million-square-foot facility is estimated to bring 300 new full-time jobs to the community, including both manufacturing and management positions.
"The collaboration and determination of local and state officials and community stakeholders made it possible for Sofidel to break ground today for a facility that not only attests to the strong economic potential of Pickaway County, but brings hundreds of job opportunities for Ohioans," said Peterson. Peterson joined officials from Pickaway County, Columbus 2020, JobsOhio and the United States Department of Commerce as well as Lt. Governor Mary Taylor and Sofidel CEO Luigi Lazzareschi for the official groundbreaking ceremony at the future site of the facility in Circleville.
Sofidel operates in seven states and 12 European nations as one of the world leaders in the production of tissue paper for hygienic and domestic use. Founded in 1966 in the Italian region of Tuscany, Sofidel is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2016 as it strengthens its American operation with the new Circleville manufacturing facility.
The company broke ground today for the facility south of Pittsburgh Road and east of Rt. 23. Collaborative efforts by state and local officials, including the Pickaway Progress Partnership, highlighted the county's strong economic development initiatives that ultimately drew the Italian company to Ohio.
