Ohio's minimum wage set to increase on Jan. 1

Ohio’s minimum wage will increase by 30 cents an hour effective Jan. 1, 2012.

Employees who receive tips will get an increase of 15 cents per hour on Jan. 1.

The new rates will be $7.70 for hourly workers and $3.85 an hour for tipped employees.

The increase is part of the amendment to the Ohio Constitution that Ohio voters approved five years ago to adjust the state minimum wage annually, based on the national Consumer Price Index.

The wage increase applies to employers who gross more than $283,000 per year.[[In-content Ad]]
