The state Senate has passed Senate Concurrent Resolution 8, urging the U.S. Congress to enact the “Sunshine Protection Act of 2019.”
The legislation would permanently extend Daylight Saving Time across the country. Officials contend the time change leads to an increase in fatal car wrecks, on-the-job injuries and even heart attacks.
“It is time to end this nonsense of government-induced biannual jet lag,” state Sen. Kristina Roegner, R-Hudson, said in a statement. Roegner is co-sponsoring the resolution with state Sen. Bob Peterson, R-Washington Court House.
SCR 8 heads to the state House for consideration.
