Ohio Poll shows Kasich, Portman lead Strickland, Fisher

Ohio Poll shows Kasich, Portman
lead Strickland, Fisher
Republicans John Kasich and Rob Portman hold substantial leads over Democrats Ted Strickland and Lee Fisher in the races for Ohio governor and U.S. senator, respectively, according to a recent Ohio Poll.
The poll was the first Ohio Poll since May, when Strickland led Kasich by 5 points and Fisher led Portman by 1 point. The poll is based on a telephone survey of 705 likely Ohio voters and was conducted by the Institute for Policy Research at the University of Cincinnati from Oct. 8-13. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.7 percentage points.
According to the survey, Kasich holds an 8-point lead over Strickland.
Portman leads Fisher by 22 points.
Meanwhile, it traditionally strong Strickland territory, The Chillicothe Gazette this week endorsed Kasich over the incumbent governor from Scioto County.
"Kasich is the right man at the right time," the Ross County paper said. "He will help balance the state's budget and transform the state's economy. He'll make a good leader for the state."
