Ohio House honors Major General for years of service to Ohio Army National Guard

Speaker of the Ohio House Clifford A. Rosenberger (R-Clarksville) and the entire House of Representatives today were pleased to present a resolution honoring Major General Deborah A. Ashenhurst on her years of service to the Ohio Army National Guard.

Enlisting with the Ohio Army National Guard in 1978, she served in various posts with such units as the 54th Support Center, the United States Property and Fiscal Office for Ohio, the 237th Personnel Services Battalion, and the 73rd Troop Command Brigade before rising to the rank of adjutant general of the Joint Forces Headquarters in 2011.

“Many of us know the service that is continuously given to protect and defend our liberties abroad and here at home, none more than those that serve in our National Guard units,” said Speaker Rosenberger as he presented Major General Ashenhurst with the resolution during today’s House session. “It’s such an honor to be here today to present this resolution for our appreciation of your service, for everything that you’ve done for the men and women of our guard units, and for their families. God bless you for your service, and we will never forget that which you have given to our state.”

Major General Ashenhurst will now assume a new position as a special assistant at the National Guard Bureau in Washington, D.C.
