Ohio Heart and Vascular Center expanding cardiac services

The Ohio Heart & Vascular Center is offering expanded cardiovascular service to the surrounding community with the opening of a heart failure clinic in the Ohio Heart & Vascular Center office, Suite 300, of the CMH Professional Building, 630 W. Main St., next to Clinton Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Santosh Menon, a cardiologist and member of the CMH Medical Staff since 2003, and Dr. Greg Egnaczyk will see heart failure patients starting Tuesday, July 26.

“Heart failure affects nearly 5 million Americans with half a million new cases diagnosed every year, making the condition the most common reason patients get admitted to the hospital,” said Dr. Menon. “The goal of our heart failure clinic is to improve heart failure symptoms with appropriate management while also reducing admissions to the hospital, which can be costly and lengthy for patients.”
Representatives of the practice and CMH Regional Health System are also discussing the expansion of other cardiac related offerings atClinton Memorial Hospital.
The Advanced Heart Failure Team at the Ohio Heart & Vascular Center offers comprehensive care and programs dedicated to improving the lives of heart failure patients in every stage of the condition. The mechanical assist device program provides new treatment options for patients with advanced heart failure, including the implantation of left ventricular assist devices.
“This level of care is available in few places in the region and is now convenient and accessible to Wilmington and area residents,” said Dr. Michael Choo, president and chief executive officer of CMH Regional Health System.
