The Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Industrial Compliance welcomes Robb Coventry as its new superintendent.
Coventry succeeds Geoff Eaton, who retired last month, and brings more than 30 years of experience as a professional architect and planner to the position. He will lead a division that oversees the enforcement of the Ohio Building Code, the state’s minimum and prevailing wage laws, minor labor laws and regulation of businesses that offer bedding, upholstered furniture and stuffed toy products.
“I’m looking forward to taking on a new challenge in my career and being a part of advancing the State’s economic development. Leading a division that is critical to the safe and equitable advancement of industry in Ohio, is very rewarding and exciting as an architect and resident of Ohio,” Coventry said.
Coventry has worked in the public sector for most of his professional career. He was an architect at the Ohio Department of Public Safety, a projects director at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and worked at DIC for three-plus years as a master plans examiner.
In addition, he led a $100M master planning effort at Batelle Memorial Institute’s Columbus location. He has been leading Columbus State Community College’s $440 million Capital Implementation Plan as its director of planning, design and construction.
“We thank Geoff for his years of service and now welcome Robb to the team,” said Commerce Director Sherry Maxfield. “Robb shares our vision of acting at the speed of business for our DIC customers. He will continue to build on our momentum within the division concentrating on process improvement and stakeholder relations."
Originally from Uhrichsville, Coventry is a first-generation college graduate from The Ohio State University. Coventry began his new role on Sept. 12.
He lives in Newark with his wife.
The Division of Industrial Compliance is part of the Ohio Department of Commerce. The department is Ohio’s chief regulatory agency, focused on promoting prosperity and protecting what matters most to Ohioans and ensuring businesses follow the laws that help them create jobs and keep Ohioans safe.
