Ohio Democratic Party approves 2012 delegate selection plan

The Ohio Democratic Party’s Executive Committee has approved the Ohio delegate selection plan for the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, NC.
Ohio Democrats will send 191 delegates to the convention, who will be selected in a process reflecting Democratic National Committee rules.
113 delegates and 11 alternates will be selected at pre-primary caucuses on January 5, 2012. Ohio Democrats wishing to be delegates to the 2012 Democratic National Convention must attend these caucuses.
In accordance with Democratic values, the Ohio Democratic Party has set Affirmative Action Goals for its convention delegation, using Census figures and exit polling data from previous elections.
Those goals are as follows: 43 African American delegates and 3 alternates; 7 Hispanic delegates and 1 alternate; 4 Asian Pacific delegates; 1 Native American delegate; 10 LGBT delegates and 1 alternate; and 20 Young Democrats (ages 18-35) and 1 alternate.
