Obama claims Strickland 'one of the best governors in the country'

In his brief, 10-minute Ohio speech this weekend, President Obama touted the 10,000th Recovery Act-funded road project and praised Gov. Ted Strickland. This is a "big....deal," Obama said as he paused for effect, mocking a vulgar modifier uttered by his vice president, Joe Biden, which was caught on tape just three months ago. The Ohio appearance was billed as official and not political; still, Obama offered high praise for Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland who is up for re-election. Strickland is opposed by former congressman John Kasich. "You got one of the best governors in the country in Ted Strickland," Obama said. House GOP Leader Rep. John Boehner, R-West Chester, said the Obama administration's stimulus program has "fallen short of its promises." Boehner pointed out that Ohio's unemployment rate "remained above 10 percent for the 14th consecutive month in May," all under Strickland's watch.
