Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office, Press Release

Montgomery County Prosecuting Attorney Mat Heck Jr. announced this month that Matthew N. Currie, 50, of Oakwood has been indicted on 91 counts for alleged voyeurism and allegedly taking videos of a nude minor.

A Montgomery County grand jury indicted Currie on:

• 49 counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance;

• 40 counts of voyeurism; and

• Two counts of unauthorized use of computer/telecommunications property.

Oakwood Police were contacted after what appeared to be voyeuristic materials were allegedly found on the defendant’s phone by a family member. It is alleged the defendant had taken numerous videos of an underage high school student in a state of nudity through the victim’s bedroom windows.

It is further alleged that the defendant had taken voyeuristic images and videos of additional adult victims in his neighborhood. On at least one occasion, the defendant is accused of attempting to film up students’ skirts in a video taken at a high school.

The defendant was previously the managing attorney at Advocates for Basic Legal Equality (ABLE).

An indictment is merely a charge and is not evidence of guilt.
