NCB donates $2,500 to Freestore Foodbank to benefit Hillsboro City Schools

NCB has donated $2,500 to the Freestore Foodbank for the benefit of Hillsboro City School's Power Pack Program.

A Power Pack is a brown bag of food delivered to children in grades K-8. Recipients of Power Packs qualify for free and reduced lunches, but may have not have enough to eat outside of school, especially during weekends, holidays, and extended school breaks.

This leads to hunger and malnutrition, which in turn results in poor educational outcomes. Power Packs meet this need by delivering bags of food to children prior to weekends and school breaks. Each bag contains 15 nutritional items, such as sunflower butter, low-sugar or whole grain cereals, fruit and vegetable juices, chickpeas, apple oatmeal bars, complete pasta meals and other high protein, low sugar healthy choices.

The Freestore Foodbank currently serves more than 4,500 students each week at more than 100 schools in eleven counties across Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky.
