Missing ODRC inmate reportedly found dead
The Henderson, Ky. Police Department announced Sunday that the body of a missing Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction inmate was found in the Ohio River.
On May 28 at approximately 12:32 p.m., the Henderson Police Department received a call of a possible body in the Ohio River, near Hays Boat Ramp. Officers and members of the Henderson Fire Department responded to the area and confirmed there was a body in the river.
Based on the initial investigation, it is believed the body recovered from the Ohio River is Bradley Gillespie. An autopsy will be performed Tuesday, May 30.
The last time Gillespie was known to have been seen before the recovery was shortly before he fled from officers on foot at approximately 3:19 a.m. on the morning of May 24.
As previously reported, officials at the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction confirmed that two individuals — Gillespie and James Lee — escaped from the Allen/Oakwood Correctional Institution (AOCI) on May 23.
Lee was captured May 24.
