Miami Township man indicted on child endangering charge
A Miami Township man has been indicted in connection with an incident that occurred on Aug. 28, 2023.
A Clermont County grand jury returned an indictment on Nathan Bullock, 25, for one count of endangering children, a felony of the third degree.
On Aug. 28 at 5:49 p.m., the Clermont County Communications Center received a 911 call for a report of a 2-year-old overdosing. The child’s mother called 911 after hearing the child coughing violently.
The mother located a vape pen next to the child and explained that the pen was not hers but knew that it might contain “weed.” Clermont County Sheriff’s deputies and EMS were dispatched at 5:51 p.m.
Central Joint Fire and EMS and sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene at 6 p.m. EMS immediately transported the child to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for treatment.
Detectives from the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and began an investigation. Detectives and Clermont County Children’s Protective Services also responded to Children’s Hospital to interview the child’s mother and Bullock.
Bullock allegedly admitted to being the sole owner of the vape pen and the responsible party for placing it within reach of the 2-year-old. Bullock also allegedly explained that the vape pen contained THC and that he was the person responsible for its contents. Bullock allegedly stated he accidentally left the vape pen in the residence within arm’s reach of the child.
The child was admitted to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for observation after testing positive for marijuana and was released to the mother the following day, through a coordinated effort with Clermont County CPS. Bullock is not permitted to have any contact with the child.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) Crime Lab confirmed the vape pen contained Delta 9 THC. Delta 9 is a chemical in cannabis and hemp plants, which can have an intoxicating effect to include some side effects.
An indictment is merely a charge and is not evidence of guilt.
