McKinney, Swonger among OSBA honorees

The president of the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) will visit Portsmouth on Wednesday, Nov. 3 to speak to area attorneys about current issues facing the legal profession and to honor attorneys David H. McCown of Ironton, Carroll V. McKinney of Leesburg, Ronald L. Swonger of Hillsboro, and Judge David D. Wilson of West Union for their 50 years in practice.

Carmen V. Roberto, 2010-2011 OSBA president, will address the annual luncheon meeting of OSBA District 8 at the SOMC Friends Community Center (1202 18th Street, Portsmouth). OSBA District 8 includes 355 members who practice in Adams, Brown, Gallia, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pickaway, Pike, Ross, Scioto, and Vinton counties.

Mark K. McCown, District 8 representative on the OSBA Board of Governors, will preside over the meeting, which will include the election of one member to the OSBA Council of Delegates.

Following the noon luncheon meeting and recognition, an optional 2.5-hour continuing legal education (CLE) seminar will be offered from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Advance seminar/lunch registration for OSBA members is $82 and $96 for non-members; seminar-only registration is $60 for members and $70 for non-members; lunch-only registration is $22 for members and $96 for non-members. After Oct. 27, $25 will be added to the total registration fee.

The Ohio State Bar Association, founded in 1880, is a voluntary association representing approximately 25,000 members of the bench and bar of Ohio as well as nearly 4,000 legal assistants and law students.
