Lawmakers, Israel leaders tour Highland, Clinton area

State and local elected officials, along with representatives from the "Israeli delegation" toured Clinton and Highland counties Wednesday, with a stop at a Highland area farm.
Ohio 86th District Rep. Cliff Rosenberger, Majority Whip and Ohio 78th District Rep. John Adams, Highland County Commissioners Tom Horst and Jeremy Shaffer, along with other officials, showcased local businesses as trade opportunities for Israel representatives Zvi Herman and Daniel Kutner.
The was was a follow-up from a trade mission in May 2011, when Rosenberger and other officials traveled to Israel.
There was particular interest in import operations for beef cattle.
Herman serves as minster of Agriculture and Science Affairs accredited to the United States, Canada and Mexico at the Embassy of Israel in Washington.
Kutner is Consul General of Israel to the Mid-Atlantic Region of the United States, based in Philadelphia. He is the official representative of the State of Israel to the Mid-Atlantic Region, including Pennsylvania, Ohio, Delaware, Kentucky, West Virginia and Southern New Jersey.
The group visited Clinton Memorial Hospital, Feed the World, LLC Cattle Export Operations in Sabina, Bluegrass Farms in Jeffersonville, Airborne Maintenance and Engineering Services in Wilmington, Wilmington College, and a Highland area farm run by Jason Boeckmann and his fiancee, Amy.
Boeckmann said that they internationally export cattle through the Sabina facility, with 90 head of cattle recently being shipped to Turkey and Russia.
Herman and Kutner told The Highland County Press that they were glad to be able to see each step in the process of cattle exporting operations, from the airport where the are shipped, to the farmers and barns of livestock.[[In-content Ad]]
