Johnson showcases funding for Dr. Singleton Park
State Senator Terry Johnson (R-McDermott) visited Dr. Singleton Park in Portsmouth last week to help showcase the importance of this community asset.
The ballpark received $100,000 from House Bill 2, the state's Capital Budget, through Johnson's support. The funds will be utilized to make necessary improvements to the park for its longevity.
"Over the years, this park has provided countless hours of quality family experiences for many thousands of youngsters and parents, and it’s long overdue for improvements," Johnson said. "I look forward to seeing how the local park board and the Washington Township trustees put this money to work for the kids. Helping projects like this make it to the finish line is one of the things I like best about serving in the Ohio General Assembly.”
In total, Senator Johnson's district is receiving more than $3.4 million from the Capital Budget process for numerous projects throughout Adams, Brown, Clermont and Scioto counties.
The legislature generally approves a Capital Budget every two years, funding improvements to public services and facilities across the state and community projects. This year, in addition to the traditional capital budget, the One-Time Strategic Community Investment Fund (OTSCIF) set aside $700 million as another source of funding.
