Investigators seek assistance in solving arsons in Highland County

The Division of State Fire Marshal is seeking the public’s assistance in solving three arson cases in Highland County.

Investigators believe that the three may be related.

The dates and addresses of the three residential fires are:

• Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at a barn located at 3621 Woods Road in Hillsboro

• Thursday, June 12, 2014 at a trailer and barn located at 3863 Carmel Road in Hillsboro

• Monday, June 23, 2014 at a residence located at 13731 Saw Mill Road in Hillsboro

Brushcreek Fire Department responded to all three scenes with mutual aid being provided by several neighboring departments.

The investigations are being conducted in conjunction with the Highland County Sheriff’s Office and the Brushcreek Fire Department.

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered by the Blue Ribbon Arson Committee for information leading to the identification of the person or persons responsible for the fire.

“Information from the public is crucial to solving these kinds of cases,” said State Fire Marshal Larry Flowers.

“Investigators want to hear from anyone who saw something out of the ordinary at or around the time of the fire or who may have heard someone speaking about the fire with an unusual level of interest or knowledge.”
