Husted’s iBook named ‘Best iBook of the Year’

Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted announced Friday that the iBook designed in partnership with his office, “Ohio: Pathway to the Presidency,” won both “Best iBook of the Year” overall in the Education Division as well as “Best iBook of the Year” for history in the Education Division.
These awards were given at the iBooks Author Conference in Nashville, Tenn., where a panel of judges rank already selected finalists based on merit.
In September, the iBook was designated a “New and Notable” publication on the education section of the Apple iBook Store.

“This is a great tool for students of all ages to learn more about Ohio’s role in national politics and even the choices before voters this fall,” Secretary Husted said. “It’s good to see it receive the recognition it deserves.”
The iBook, available through the iBook Application on Apple devices at no cost, features five chapters including detailed biographical information on the eight former U.S. Presidents to have called Ohio home and information on why Ohio is so important in the race to the White House.
Since its launch just two months ago, there has already been 2,500 downloads.
“Ohio: Pathway to the Presidency” was authored at no cost to the taxpayer through a partnership between Secretary of State’s Office and Jason LaMar of Columbus State Community College. LaMar is also an Apple Distinguished Educator and designed the iBook. The Ohio History Connection offered valuable historical documents and assistance in gathering information for the publication.
